I actually believe how sonic 06 does different playable characters is the worst in my opinion. So in Sa 1 and 2 you had sonic gameplay and all the other's as there own levels. It means everything is segregated in a way so you wont have any character harming the others play style. In sonic heroes you have multiple players at the same time so you switch when you see fit so its not a burdon because the game is like a puzzle game so you make the choice to switch the characters like a tetris piece. My problem with sonic 06 is i like multiple playable characters but if they intrude on each other then it gets annoying. If they had their own levels and sonic 06 was one big campaign then i know it would be fine. I think them pushing different characters on to you is dumb because its completely antithetical to sonic game design. In sonic game design you try to speed up and stay that speed. but in 06 you unwilling slow down. Having every one have their own levels would create way more creativity and way less gimiky bullshit.

I hope shadow generations has some sort of mode or toggle that allows you to play shadow in the base game, even if it’s just a skin swap and ui change I think that’d be cool.

Project 06 did dilute the problems with the jank and loose controls, and the auto-running sections are not as bad but there’s still problems like how jumping doesn’t slow you down a bit to keep platforming controllable and what not, but project did improve a lot of things though and yeah it is a major improvement overall

If you see the time period when it releases, I think its a skin and stage related to the sonic movie coming this winter. Also I noticed in some areas of the stage, chaos control can unlock hidden parts of the stage.

I cannot describe how tilted was I by the trials and cyber space levels. Although even with that being said, I can still learn and practice how to do it. What triggers me the most is that the Master King trial exist for the sole purpose to waste your time before the final fight. I thought the whole idea of the trial was to show how Sonic gains new ability, but when said ability is one that's super dependent on enemy attack patterns, it literally does you no good on the actual final boss fight because you just don't learn how to perfect time one enemy by practicing against another instead of said one So what's the point of fighting the 3 previous titans, as the player? The fights don't suddenly have more to them anyways. Take Royal Guard featuring Dante from Devil May Cry series for example, it has a even more strict timing than Perfect Parry, but players are still willing to do it, because it gives out higher rewards. Perfect Parry on the other hand you're just manually increasing the risk you take without giving anything in return. All of the stuff it can do can already be achieved by a normal parry during a regular playthrough. You can add some small features as little as making a perfect timed parry refill all of your quick cyloop meter at once and instantly makes it better than a gimmick only useful during the final boss because it was forced

more simple times. no one cared about BIS gear. no exalts to max for. maxing life and mana were just extras effort for a bit more survivability. LH and the following new endgame dungeons hadn't destroyed the potion economy. no marks for useless daily quests. overpowered ST items were fewer and far-er between. At least nowadays we don't have the same constant spam of events, or at least, today's event spam is more planned out and well executed. and quality of life/ new content updates are rolling in. The new realms are awesome and moonlight village probably would've given 2015 realmers a stroke.

The homing attack lag for Shadow is a bit concerning, but the teleport animation oddly might actually make it feel more natural even if I don't like the homing attack delay. Also, Mephilis would be great to come back as he seems to be one of people's favorite parts of 06, and it would be interesting and even a potential way to bring him back out of non existence. Though, it'd be a pretty one sided rivalry as Shadow wouldn't remember him unless they somehow restored his memories of 06. They have since confirmed I think he'll have 2D and 3D acts. However, unlike Sonic, does seem they are willing to use more than one theme per game.

The deliberate showing of kingdom valley and styling the hub around soleanna, to me at least, shows that sega is accepting 06 and moving from it and the stigma it left behind. It shows a lot of growth for them to show a stage from their arguably biggest commercial failure and have it be front and center in a trailer, whereas even 5-10 years ago they wouldn’t have done it.

10:53 “only get it by preordering” - they did this in the original gens too with the casino night pinball stage (until the PC version then it was just included with the game’s base price until like 2019 when they released it to the public for anyone who didn’t preorder) the additional level really does make me think - is it a new, full blown level on the same scale as kingdom valley and bullet station, or is it something small like casino night pinball? Also “skin for shadow” I think will be a Dreamcast shadow skin like what they did for Dreamcast sonic skin for Sonic

I want to clarify on the preorder part. Preordering physically gives both the sonic skin and Gerald’s journal (it’s specifically noted that the journal is physical only) The stuff you get from the digital deluxe edition isn’t preorder exclusive. (I believe.) Pre ordering DDE only means you get the adventure skin and early access. Also with R&C rift apart you could purchase the DDE stuff as a add on if you have a physical copy, which makes me think something similar will be happening here since the physical edition has the journal. I don’t see why Sega would waste money making a preorder physical exclusive when they make more money on digital preorders, unless the digital exclusives can be added onto a physical copy

I think this is the right way to make sonic games. Having a "free roam" section and then a "mach speed" section in the same stage. Something I hate from new sonic games is the boost mechanic, they haven´t dropped it, and basically it turns a sonic game into a speed race in a corridor with occasional 2D platforming, you could not use it, but the game is built around that mechanic, map design, enemy distribution. Stages are basically a wide corridor for you to have some drift range, plus you become invincible, so there´s no point in having enemies along the way. If the boost was very short, it would be ok, but it lasts way too much, and you regain it so easily. Even when not using it, sonic moves way to fast, you lose control. I don´t think sonic games should be like that all the time. Most liked sonic games don´t even have boost. Maybe in open-zone games like Frontiers, boost is justified, but in stage-level games it isn´t. Shadow generations gameplay looks good, I hope sonic games start turning to that side more in the future.

This is great for those that never got to play it, and it's hella possible that people didn't get a chance to play it. I just wish those of us that bought it on PC could have some sort of "Upgrade" option as opposed to spending $50 on a game that we already own, just to play a new story mode. I get that there's newer mechanics in this game, which will be interesting to try out, but to me it's still not worth the $50 when I only want to play one portion of the game.

This guy is on "Babe wake up, new bickuribox12 video released" tier and I hope he's at least 200k by the end of the year. (Probably a bit too optimistic about it but who cares)

I’d suggest just holding off until day 1 to make sure the devs have put the proper care into the game before we shell out that shmoney

3:44 Why did you have to remind me of the Origins Plus pricing situation that was so weird, and I'm surprised not many people talked about it. It felt kind of scummy to me especially since I got Origins Pre-Plus release. I never got the Plus DLC.

This game is a similar idea to 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Enhanced Port + Brand New Smaller Adventure that is "Darker"), the current title screen is even near identical to 3D + Bowser title screen. Seem interesting.
